Mary E. Paolozzi, 95, of the Lutheran Home formerly of North Utica passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. Mary was born in Utica on January 12, 1915 a daughter of Angelo and Antoinette (Pontalaya) Monopoli and was raised and educated locally. In Utica on July 1, 1939 Mary married Joseph A. Paolozzi, Sr. a blessed union of 56 years until his passing away on September 15, 1995. She was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who was affectionately known as the "General" by her family. She was always a hard worker and spent countless hours gardening. Mary is survived by her son and two daughters-in-law; John and Mickelina Paolozzi, Whitesboro and Angela Paolozzi, Clinton, five grandchildren and spouses, Joseph A. Paolozzi, III, Clinton, Paul and Raeanne Paolozzi, VA, Maryrose and Gaetano Belmonte, Clinton, John A. and Christina Paolozzi, Jr., GA and Michael S. Paolozzi and fiancée Victoria Crouse, Utica, 12 great grandchildren, Alexandria, Ashley, Joleen, Kari, Sarah, Aaron, Nicholas and Brandon Paolozzi, Angela and Dante' Belmonte and Katelyn and Garrett Royer,. She is also survived by many loving and caring nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mary was predeceased by her son Joseph A. Paolozzi, Jr., in 2008, two brothers, Frank and Leo Monopoli and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Palmira (Polly) and Caesar Tomaselli and Josephine (Josie) and Joseph (Red) Talerico. Mrs. Paolozzi's funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11:30 at St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Those so wishing may make donations to a charity of their choice in Mary's memory. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Applewood Unit of the Lutheran Home for all the loving care given to Mary Arrangements are by the Heintz Funeral Service Inc.
