Anthony (Tony) J. Weber, 87, of Utica passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010 in St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Tony was born on January 30, 1923, a son of John P. and Margaret (Zorn) Weber. At Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica on May 8, 1948, Tony married Mildred (Millie) Danaher-a marriage lasting 54 years before her death in 2002. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph-St. Patrick's Church, Utica and a long time member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society, Perpetual Adoration Society and Holy Name Society. As an active member of the church he volunteered for many parish activities including the annual German Picnic and Mother Marianne's West Side Kitchen. He was also a member of the Carpenter's Local #747 and American Legion Post #229. Tony proudly served in the United States Army in the 13th Armored Field Artillery Battalion and was a decorated veteran of World War II. Tony enjoyed tending his backyard vegetable garden and volunteering in the Soup Kitchen. Tony was a life long carpenter and continued using his master skills well after his retirement through countless remodeling projects and the building of beautiful furniture for his friends and family, that they will forever cherish. He was also an avid fan of Syracuse basketball as anyone who called during a game quickly found out! Tony is survived by his daughters Peggy (Curtis) Koehn, Bellville, TX and Donna (Tom) Hall, Potsdam, NY and his four sons Dick (Karen Jacobs), Fulton, NY, Terry (Meg), Utica, NY, Mark (Stacy), Deerfield, NY, and Tim, Cicero, NY. Grandpa Tony thoroughly enjoyed and deeply loved his grandchildren, Andrea (Neal) Weber-Stukey and her mother Patty Weber, Zachary (Shelly) Koehn, Jessica (Edward) Kasprowicz, Kevin and Christopher Hall, Danny and Tara Weber, Megan and Amelia Scott, David and Emily Weber, and Nathan and Nicholas Weber and their mother Cindy Weber, as well as his great-granddaughter Keira Weber-Stukey. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Evelyn Danaher and Mary Weber and his good friend Alex Leshkivich. Mr. Weber's funeral with military honors will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 10:00 at St. Joseph's-St. Patrick's Church, Utica. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers those so wishing may make donations to the Mother Marianne Cope West Side Kitchen, c/o St. Joseph's-St. Patrick's Church, 702 Columbia St., Utica, NY 13502 in Tony's memory. The family would like to express thanks and gratitude to Dr. Brian Boyle, Dr. Scott Brehaut and Dr. Kenneth Ortega. Special thanks go to the nurses and staff of St. Luke's CCU especially Tammy, Rhonda, Allison and Mary for the care they provided to Tony. Arrangements are by the Heintz Funeral Service, Inc.
