Mr. Eugene E. Krol, 83 a resident of the St. Luke's Home, New Hartford, formerly of N. Utica passed away on Tuesday May 11, 2010 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford with his loving family by his side. Eugene was born in Utica on March 29, 1927 the son of Martin and Katherine (Szczepanska) Krol. He was raised in Utica, attended Holy Trinity school and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. Eugene honorably served in the US Army during the Korean War. On October 3, 1953 Eugene married Della E. Lipinski at St. Peter's Church in N. Utica, a devoted union of 56 years. For many years Eugene was employed in the planning department of Jefferson Smurfit Company (formerly Mohawk Containers) retiring in 1988. He was a member of American Legion Utica post 229 and a parishioner of St. Peter's Church in N. Utica. He was a past member of the Jefferson Smurfit golf league, bowling league and softball league as well as the Eagles Golf league and enjoyed spending free time fishing. Mr. Krol is survived by his beloved wife Della; two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia Pereira Whitt of Sugarland, TX and Kathleen Krol Ramirez and her husband Jaime of Pleasanton, CA; five cherished grandchildren, Michael John Pereira and Zachary Scott Pereira both of Sugarland, TX and Sarah Kathleen Ramirez, Danielle Marie Ramirez and Christian James Ramirez all of Pleasanton, CA; two sisters-in-law, Ann Davis and her husband Richard of Utica and Ellen Gatchell of Lino Lakes, MN; a special godson, Stephen Zapisek of Whitesboro and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Martin and Katherine, four sisters, Josephine Zapisek, Angela Rosinski, Stella Weiler and Caroline Brozek, one brother, Edward Krol and his In-Laws, Frank and Della Lipinski. Mr. Krol's funeral will be held on Friday May 14, 2010 at 8:45 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and 9:30 at St. Peter's Church where his mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment with military honors will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville.
