Obituary of Robert L. Hinckley

Mr. Robert (Bob) L. Hinckley passed away May 4, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Syracuse after a brief illness. He was born on November 8, 1945 in Utica, the son of Wilson Roy Hinckley and Erma(Newman) Hinckley and was educated in the Utica schools. He was a Lance Corporal Machine Gunner in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. During his service, he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Medal. Bob worked many years as a dedicated truck driver. He was a great conversationalist and a kind, generous man. He is survived by his mother; Erma Hinckley, his companion of 26 years, Josephine Joynt, a brother, Roy Hinckley and wife Sandra, Josephine's daughters, Linda, Debbie, Joanne and Laurie and their spouses, along with some special children in his life, Gina, Thomas and Taylor, several nieces and nephews, and also with special mention, Bob's faithful friend Charlie Parsons. Robert was predeceased by his father, Wilson Roy Hinckley and his sister, Debra Hinckley Jones. Robert's funeral will be held Friday, May 7, 2010 at 10:00 am from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., Utica. Burial will be in New Forest Cemetery with Military Honors. Calling hours are from 6 - 8 pm on Thursday, May 6th. Please omit flower offerings.
