Mary F. Bick, 81, of Utica, passed away after a brief illness with her loving family by her side, on Wednesday April 7, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital. Mary was born in Utica on January 5, 1929, the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Wingendorf) Boehlert. On June 10, 1950 at St. Joseph's Church, Utica, Mary married Robert J. Bick, Mary and Robert shared a loving and blessed union of 60 years. For the past 50 years Mary was employed at the Bick and Heintz Garage, Utica. She was a member of St. Joseph-St. Patrick's Church, the Altar Rosary Society of the church, the Kayuta Lake Association, and a former member of the Mothers Club, Mary's greatest joy was spending time at the family camp on Kayuta Lake. She treasured the times her grandchildren spent with her at camp. Mary had many past times such as crocheting, cooking and shopping, especially enjoying shopping for family and friends for the Christmas Holidays. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for large family gatherings. Mary will be fondly remembered for her "German Potato Salad", a family favorite. She was a kind and generous person who treated her children's spouses as if they were her own. Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Robert; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and David DeBlois, New Hartford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Annette Bick, Frankfort and Robert A. and Laura Bick, Deerfield; five grandchildren and spouses, Melissa and Chris Abdoo, New Hartford, Alan and Pam Bick, Schuyler, Vincenza Bick, Frankfort, Andrew Bick, Albany and Alexandra Bick, Deerfield; two great grandchildren, Danielle and Elizabeth Abdoo, New Hartford; three sisters-in law, Marie Hammersmith, Remsen, Patricia Bick, Utica, and JoAnne Barter, Sauquoit. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, especially acknowledging, Robert and Elaine Boehlert, Patricia Berg and Jack and Sherrie Boehlert. Mary was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Lois Boehlert. Mrs. Bick's funeral will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 9:15 am from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 10:00 am from St. Joseph-St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4 - 8. Those so wishing may make donations to St. Joseph-St. Patrick's Church in Mary's memory. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Drs. Sultana Razia and Steven Lagrant and the staffs of the 6th floor and 3rd floor west of St. Luke's Hospital for all the loving care they gave to Mary.
