Mrs. Bernadette A. (Amrhein) Slabicki, 63, of Binghamton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 27, 2017 at her home. Bernadette was born in Utica on February 1, 1954 the daughter of John F. and Delores B. (Jones) Amrhein and was a graduate of Whitesboro high School. On June 16, 1973, Bernadette married Michael J. Slabicki at St. Paul's Church in Whitesboro. She was a past member of the Wives Officer's Club during her husband service in the US Air Force. Bernadette was a talented floral designer and especially enjoyed red roses. She was a very religious woman whose generosity and caring nature was evident to all who knew her. Bernadette's family, especially her treasured grandchildren were the light of her life. Mrs. Slabicki is survived by her beloved husband, Michael; her daughter and son-in-law, Ericka and Ben Dunette of Binghamton; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael, Jr. and Michelle Slabicki of Vestal, NY; four cherished grandchildren, Abigail Mae, Michael III, Joseph and Emma June; seven sisters, Regina Brown, Maureen and Phil Rubyor, Laurie and Ben Urgan, Elaine Williams, Eileen and Curtis Girard, Diane Malone and her fiancé Derek Smith and Andrea and Heidi Kloczkowski; three brothers, Jackie Amrhein, Brian and Robin Amrhein and Kurt and Dominica Amrhein; Uncle and Godfather, Glenn Amrhein; in-laws, Sandra and Roger Brady, Carolyn and Donald VanPelt, Stanley "Stik" Slabicki and Mary Ann McMyler as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, John Michael Amrhein, Gregory Amrhein and Blaine Amhrein; two nieces, Amy Amrhein and Adrienne Williams and a brother-in-law, Thomas Brown. Mrs. Slabicki's funeral will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Historic Old St. John's Church in Utica, where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Her Rite of Committal and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Sunday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N.
