Dorothea E. Dux, 89, of Utica passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 after a long and full life. Dorothea was born January 24, 1921 in Utica, daughter of William and Verna (Dager) Dux. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and the Excelsior School of Business. For more than forty years she was associated with Program Associates, Inc. Dorothea purchased the business in 1983 and operated it until she closed it in 1995. Dorothea was a member of St. Joseph - St. Patrick's Church, the YWCA and the Zonta Club of Utica. Dorothea is survived by two goddaughters; Linda Stein McTague, of Saratoga Springs, NY and Holly Stein Pelland of New Hartford, NY, dear friends, Beatrice and Ruth Begent, Betty Lemke, Bertha Roman, Jean Franz, and Elizabeth Hubbard Ovens, and cousins, Thomas A. Smith, Dorothea Dux Kirsch and Lucille Dager White. Dorothea's funeral will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 9:30 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 10:00 from St. Joseph - St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4-7. In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to remember the YWCA Memorial Fund or the Zonta Memorial Fund.
