Janette I. Meyers, 85, of Utica, passed away Friday, February 5, 2010 after a brief illness. Janette was born November 29, 1924, the daughter of Herbert and Jessie (Moore) Caswell. She was raised and educated locally and a high school graduate. On May 11, 1946, Janette married John F. Meyers. Mr. Meyers passed away in 1990. She and her husband owned and operated the North Utica Florist together. Janette enjoyed a loving marriage - she and her husband always put each other first. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She was also a great listener; everyone was welcome at her kitchen table for coffee, conversation, and cards. Janette will be missed at "Old Lady Card Day" and by her many friends at Strawberry Hills. She was also an avid bowler. She enjoyed politics and was a former member of the Marcy Republican Club. Janette was of the Episcopal faith and a former member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in North Utica. Janette is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnne (Jody) and Scott Van Buskirk, Holland Patent; a son and two daughters-in-law, Jay and Rebecca Meyers, Deerfield, Kathy (Mrs. John B.) Meyers, Barneveld; thirteen grandchildren and their families; a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Jack Gaffney, Utica; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Vivian Caswell, Westmoreland, Brad and Doris Caswell, Utica. Also surviving are special friends, Pat and Lorna Van Buskirk, Barneveld. Besides by her husband, Janette is predeceased by a son, John B. Meyers. A Memorial Service for Janette will be held Monday evening, February 8, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home for Memorial Visitation from 4 - 7 pm.
