Please share a memory of Dolores to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dolores M. Wengert, 81, of New Hartford, passed away Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Masonic Care Community. Dolores was born in Whitestown on October 4, 1928, the daughter of Clinton H. and Yvonne (Arcand) Moran. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Utica. She attended local schools and graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1946. On July 29, 1950, Dolores married George E. "Bud" Wengert in St. Patrick's Church, Utica, a blessed union of over 44 years. Mr. Wengert passed away on January 7, 1992, leaving a great void in her life. Dolores was employed with NY Telephone for over 26 years, the last 14 as a service advisor. She took early retirement in 1979 to spend more time with her husband and to enjoy their summers in the Adirondacks. Dolores was a member and past president of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a member of the Whitesboro Alumni Association and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in New Hartford for over 50 years. Dolores is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Susan Wengert, New Hartford; a daughter and son-in-law, Jacquelyn and William Ellenwood, Yorkville; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Wengert, Heather (& Richard) Uriah, and Jaclyn Zebrowski; 2 great grandchildren, Robert and Alexis Uriah; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Rosemary Moran, New Hartford, Dr. Douglas and Sue Moran, Whitesboro. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and dear friends, including Patti, Nick, and Andy Cirillo, her pal, Florence Pick (with whom she enjoyed her Sunday Crossword Puzzles), and her feline companion, Taffy. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Moran, of Cleveland, Ohio. Mrs. Wengert's funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Rosary Curch, New Hartford, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment, in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown, will take place at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica on Monday evening, from 4 - 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to the Central Association for the Blind or to your local Humane Society. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of the Masonic Care Community and especially to the Albany wing for the care and compassion given to both Dolores and her family during her stay.
