Mrs. Carol J. Oakley, 75 of Oriskany passed away on Friday January 15, 2010 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford with her loving family by her side. Carol was born in Utica on January 5, 1935 the daughter of George and Ruth (Hemming) Fay. She was raised and educated in Oriskany , graduated Salutatorian from Oriskany High School and attended Utica School of Commerce. On February 19, 1955 Carol married Donald E. Oakley at St. Stephen's Church in Oriskany. At one time she was employed with Rome Manufacturing and for 20 years with the Eastern Star Home in Oriskany until her retirement. Carol was a parishioner of the Former St. Stephen's Church, St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Whitesboro and was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 1448 in Oriskany. Carol was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to raising her children. Mrs. Oakley is survived by her loving husband, Donald; three daughters and one son-in-law, Laura Oakley of Jacksonville, FL. Therese & Steven Oehme of Pittsburgh, PA and Vicki Oakley of Jacksonville, FL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Tina Oakley of Whitesboro and Todd and Audra Oakley of Bossier City, Louisiana; a sister-in-law, Nancy Fay of Oriskany; 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents George and Ruth and a brother, Ronald Fay. Relatives and friends are invited to Mrs. Oakley's memorial mass of Christian burial on Monday January 18, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Whitesboro. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro will be held at the convenience of her family. There are no calling hours.
