Isabella (Gram cracker, Izzy) (Wayman) Smith, 91, of Utica went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2010 with her loving family by her side. Isabella was born on July 2, 1918 in Middleburgh, NY the daughter of the late William and Elsie Wayman. She was educated in the Middleburgh area. Isabella married Edward Smith on July 17, 1941 a loving union of 43 years until his passing on October 26, 1984. Isabella spent her years raising her children and being a homemaker. She enjoyed her weekly bingo outings, doing her puzzle books, and ironing for her family. Most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Isabella is survived by her sons, Paul and Margaret Smith, of New Hartford, Harry and Selma Smith of Utica, her daughters, Marie Fox of Ohio, NY, Maryann and Luperio Gonzalez of Utica, Marguerite Hart and companion Charles Ford of Ohio, NY, Catherine Caldwell and fiancée Christopher Doris of Utica, and Laura Johnson of Poland, NY, a son-in-law, Raymond Major of West Mifflin, PA, two brothers, George and Leroy Wayman of Cobleskill, NY. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, and 43 great grandchildren. Isabella was predeceased by her husband Edward Smith, her children, William Smith, Richard Smith, Kenneth Smith, Isabella Major and Jean Smith, two sisters, Catherine Pickett and Florence and a brother Frank Wayman. A funeral service for Mrs. Smith will be held on Tuesday evening January 5, 2010 at 7:00 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. A spring burial will take place at the Ohio Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 4-7. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Fred Talarico, Nurse Practitioner Pat Rosati and their entire office staff for their love and compassion shown to Isabella and her family. Also to the nurses on 3C and 3B at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.
