Vincenza 'Nancy' L. Sullivan, 86, of Whitesboro, passed away on Sunday December 6, 2009 at the Heritage Healthcare Center in Utica, NY. Nancy was born on July 28, 1923 in New York Mills the daughter of Salvatore and Josephine (Pierri) Grizzanto. She received her educated in local schools. In 1966, Nancy married Edmund DeMarche. Mr. DeMarche passed away in 1968. In 1982, Nancy married William Sullivan in Whitesboro. Nancy was employed by the Skenandoa Rayon Corp. for 18 years, having served as shop steward at one time. She later retired from the Oneida National Bank. Nancy was active for several years in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Malsen Jones Post #7393, New York Mills, and was a past president of the Auxiliary, a member of the American Legion Whitestown Post # 1113 Ladies Auxiliary and also was a proud member of the Utica Maennerchor Ladies Auxiliary. Nancy is survived by her husband, William; a step daughter, Mrs. Karen Furno; a step granddaughter, Ms. Tara Mittan, all of Delmar, NY; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Joseph Grizzanto of Spring Hill, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by brothers, Anthony Grizzanto, John Miani and Vincent Grizzanto and sisters, Lena Christiansen and Mary Cataldi. Mrs. Sullivan's funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 9:30 at St. Paul's Church, Whitesboro. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Heintz Funeral Service Inc, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.
