Janice M. Cooney, 76, of Deerfield passed away on February 21, 2017. Janice was born in Utica on September 17, 1940, a daughter of the late Walter and Beatrice (Brennan) Roman. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of Utica College. Janice married Edward J. Cooney on September 16, 1961 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in New Hartford. For many years until her retirement Janice worked as a paralegal for the law firms of Capecelatro, Del Buono, Vaughn, & Compson, PC and Kernan & Kernan, PC. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of The Rosary Church. Janice is survived by her husband Edward, her four children, Michael Cooney and wife, Elizabeth, of Vienna, VA, Catherine Cooney, of Deerfield, Jennifer Cooney, of Liberty, NY and Robert Cooney and wife, Margaret, of South Pasadena, CA, four grandchildren, Paul, Andrew, Grace and Antonia Cooney, and two brothers, Howard Roman and wife, Nanette, of Ashburn, VA and Ronald Roman and wife, Elaine, of NY Mills. Janice was predeceased by a brother Maynard Roman, of NY Mills. A funeral mass for Mrs. Cooney will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 10:00 at Our Lady of The Rosary Church, New Hartford.
