Asunta (Sue) Tomaino, 91, of Deerfield passed away Monday October 26, 2009. Sue as she was known to most people was born in Frankfort, NY on August 15, 1918 the youngest of four children to Antonio and Maria Francesca (Figunni) Carchedi. She was a graduate of Frankfort High School and the St. Luke's School of Nursing class of 1940. There she met the requirements for her R.N. license. Sue worked at St. Luke's Hospital and later St. Luke's Memorial Hospital for many years including during World War II. On December 6, 1943 in Frankfort, NY she was united in marriage to Louis C. Tomaino. Mr. Tomaino passed away on December 19, 1981. In 1948 the couple moved to Walker Rd., in Deerfield where she resided until her death. Sue was a member of St. Peter's Church, North Utica and Lucy Kellogg Nursing Society. Sue is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law; Louis and Kathryn Tomaino of Schenectady, NY and Robert and Cheryl Tomaino of Deerfield, four grandsons; Michael, David, Matthew, and Christopher Tomaino, a niece; Dr. Rocklyn Jastak, WA and a nephew; Dr. Louis Urgo, MA. Sue was predeceased by her brother and sisters; Jerome Carchedi, Josephine Churches and Barbara Urgo. Mrs. Tomaino's funeral will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica and at 10:00 from St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday evening from 6-9. Those so wishing may make donations to St. Peter's Church in Sue's memory.
