Mary A. Harrigan, 80, of Clinton, passed away October 21, 2009 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. Mary was born in Utica on December 23, 1928, the daughter of Lewis and Alice (Burns) Townsend. She was a lifelong resident of Clinton and a graduate of Clinton Central High School, Class of 1946. On November 25, 1950, Mary married Robert J. Harrigan. Mary enjoyed her family, her home, and her Catholic Religion. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Clinton. Mary is survived by her husband, Robert, Clinton; five daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Alan Akins, Whitesboro, Susan and Neal Klein, Clinton, Robin and Jeffrey Rizzo, Clinton, Lisa and Michael Jeffery, Clinton, Elizabeth and Jason Calcara, Brewerton; eleven grandchildren, Adam (Naureen) Akins, Lauren (Michael) DesJardins, Michael (Laura) Harrigan, Justin, Jeffrey, Jerry and Kate Rizzo, Robert, Maureen, and Joseph Jeffery, and Alicyn Calcara; two great grandchildren, Lily DesJardins and Omar Akins; a brother, Bernard (Andria) Townsend, Marcellus, two sisters, Catherine (James) Miller, Clinton, Esther Donnenwirth, Whitesboro; an aunt, Marjorie Edson, Skaneateles. Mrs. Harrigan's funeral will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, Clinton where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, Friday evening, from 6 - 9 pm. Mary's family would like to thank the Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center nurses, Syndi Maldonado in ICU, Danielle on the 1st Floor East, and the Emergency Room personnel for their heroic efforts.
