Anthony L. Battista, 67, of Yorkville passed away Thursday, August 6, 2009. Tony was born on September 5, 1941 in Fiume, Yugoslavia the son of Alberto and Erminia (Milosavjevich) Battista. He came to the United States in 1951 and received his education in local schools. Tony honorably served in the U.S. Army. He took pride in his 40 years of construction, a job he loved in a country he loved. Tony was a member of the Whitestown Vets Club, American Legion Post #1113, and the VFW Post# 7393. In accordance with his wishes he wants to be known as the first a- - h- - - - to ever die. Many have gone before, but none were noted. Tony is survived by his wife, Kathy Owens, her children and grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Claudio and JoAnn Battista, and nieces, Alexandra Battista and Antonia Stagno. He was predeceased by two sisters, Antonia Battista and Bruna Stagno. A memorial funeral mass for Mr. Battista will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 9:30 am at St. Paul's Church, Whitesboro. There are no calling hours. Those so wishing may make donations to the American Cancer Society in Tony's memory.
