Anna Mae Franklin, 81, of Remsen, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Ann was born in Herkimer on April 19, 1928, the daughter of Eugene and Ethel (Baker) Cruikshank. She was raised and educated in West Winfield. On June 19, 1948, Ann married Kenneth Franklin, Sr. Mr. Franklin passed away in 1994. A full time wife and mother, Ann stayed home to raise her four daughters and one son. She was of the Protestant faith. Ann is survived by four daughters, Linda Perryman, Remsen, Susan and her husband, Charles Jewett, Remsen, Betty and her husband, LeRoy Bork, Wellesly Island, Sandra Krebs and her companion, Christine Kennett, Yorkville; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth, Jr. and Evelyn Franklin, Utica; fourteen grandchildren and their spouses, Joe and Sara Perryman, Michael Perryman, Candace Pfendler and Joe Gianotti, Amy and David DeGrace, Kevin Bork, Billy Jewett and Renee Lighthall, Christina Jewett, Richard Jewett, Diana and Scott Wilcox, Alyson Krebs and Jayson Vick, Jaimie Krebs and Hasan Muhic, Ricky Wheatley, Jeremy Wheatley, and Tanya Wheatley; her brother, Leo Cruikshank, Middleville. Also surviving are several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, including a special nephew, Gerald Cruikshank, New York Mills. Ann is predeceased by two brothers, Albert and Lester Cruikshank, and by one sister, Margaret Richards. Mrs. Franklin's funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 12:00 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment will take place in Fairchild Cemetery, Remsen. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home, Monday morning, from 10 - 12, prior to the funeral service. Those wishing may donate to the Stevens - Swan Humane Society in Ann's memory. The family would like to offer their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center's ICU for the care and compassion shown to Ann and her family during her stay.
