Obituary of Ralph L. DeAngelo

Mr. Ralph L. DeAngelo, 84 of Utica passed away on Tuesday July 7, 2009 at his home with his loving family by his side. Ralph was born in NY Mills on August 4, 1924 the son of Antonio and Philomena (Tarquinio) DeAngelo. He was proud to have been raised and educated in NY Mills and later attended trade school. Ralph honorably served in the US army during WW II. On April 10, 1948, He married Joan Viverito at St. Agnes Church in Utica. He was employed with Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome and later with Mohawk Valley Oil in Marcy retiring in 1986. Ralph was an avid golfer, participating in the Mohawk Valley Golf League at Camroden Golf Course in Rome and also participated in a golf league at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Whitesboro. He was a "jack of all trades" and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Ralph was of the Catholic faith. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather Ralph centered his life around his family. Mr. DeAngelo is survived by his beloved wife, Joan, who loving and tirelessly cared for Ralph during his illness over the past 2 years; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Rick DeAngelo of Utica and Ralph and Cheryl DeAngelo of Marcy; a cherished granddaughter, Jean Marie Udovidchik and her husband Alex of Utica; one brother and two sisters-in-law, James and Congetta DeAngelo of Oklahoma City, OK and Betty DeAngelo of Whitesboro and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Angela, Annie, Rosie and Mary and four brothers, Frank, Dominick, Joseph and John. Mr. DeAngelo's funeral will be held on Friday July 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Utica. Mr. DeAngelo's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. for the wonderful care and compassion you provided to Ralph and his family. A special thank you to Dr. Thomas John and Dr. Charles Eldredge for the exceptional care you provided to Ralph over the years.
