Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
CLINTON – Richard G. “Buddy” Brown, 81, of Clinton, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2017, at the Lutheran Home in Clinton, where he’d resided for the last ten years.
Buddy was born on July 1, 1935, in New York Mills, the son of Leonard and Helen (Feisthamel) Brown. He grew up in Utica and attended local schools. He was employed by the Biogenic Dental Corp as a Dental Lab Technician, retiring in 1997. Buddy enjoyed the outdoors and frequently went on fishing and camping trips with family and friends. His favorite vacations were spent in Cape Vincent on the St. Lawrence River. With a beer in hand, he would sit and watch the sunsets, and you would hear him say, “How can you beat this?!”. His favorite sports teams were the New York Yankees (of course) and the Boston Celtics, to which he would proclaim “Larry Byrd is the greatest basketball player that ever lived”. Buddy was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, of which he was a participant in their shuffleboard league, a passion he picked up from his dad.
Buddy is survived by one brother, Robert Brown, Florida; two sisters, Bernadette Brown, Clinton, Nancy Austin, Utica; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers, Leonard, Jr., and William; and one sister, Elizabeth Heaton.
Mr. Brown’s funeral service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton. Interment will take place privately in Mount Olivet Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
Those wishing may donate to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in Buddy’s memory.
