Doris Marie (Kieffer) Collins, age 85, of New Hartford, NY passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Doris was born in Utica, NY on January 21, 1932. She was the daughter of George and Kathleen (Corsette) Kieffer. She was a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names in Rome, NY. Doris was quite proficient in playing the piano. In her senior year under the sponsorship of Sister Flavianna, she gave a recital which was well received by many friends and family. Doris was employed at Blue Cross/Blue Shield for nine years. On July 12, 1958, Doris was united in marriage to John F. Collins at Sacred Heart Church, Utica. She provided the utmost care to her clients with kindness and compassion and one could only hope for someone like her to care for them. She enjoyed many wonderful years on their boat with friends and family and looked forward to their winter trips to Florida. She also enjoyed playing bridge, crossword puzzles, reading, senior classes at SUNY and the occasional trip to the Casino. Doris was a very strong and proud woman. She always saw the good in everything and handled it with grace and dignity, including this devastating illness.
