Edna F. Losie, 95, a resident of the St. Luke's Home, formerly of Utica, passed away Friday, May 29, 2009, at Faxton - St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford. Edna was born in Utica on June 7, 1913, the daughter of Harry and Frieda (Walter) Losie. She was raised and educated locally. Edna was employed with Savage Arms during World War II, and later with Duxbak Co. in Utica. In her younger years, Edna enjoyed bowling, traveling, and vacationing at the St. Lawrence River. She was a member of St. Joseph & St. Patrick's Church in Utica. Edna is survived by a niece and her husband, Barbara and Donald Mead, Michigan; a nephew and his wife, Charles III and Tammie Stewart, Michigan; a dear friend and neighbor, Jane Zick, Utica; as well as by several great nieces, great nephews, friends and neighbors. Besides her parents, Edna is predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Charles Stewart II; an uncle and his wife, William and Alice Walter. Miss Losie's funeral will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 10:30 am from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 11:00 am at St. Joseph & St. Patrick's Church, Utica where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yorkville. There are no calling hours. Miss Losie's family extends their thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Dr. William Ryan and his staff for the care and compassion given to Edna.
