Mrs. Alice H. Hart, 91 of New Hartford and Old Forge, NY died peacefully on Sunday May 24, 2009 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY in New Hartford. Alice was born in Utica on March 26, 1918 the daughter of Sylvester and Eletha (Valin) Holehan. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. On May 4, 1946, Alice married Roy J. Hart at Blessed Sacrament Church in Utica, a union of 46 years until Roy's death in 1992. Alice was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford, a former parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Utica and former member of the Yahnundasis Golf Club. She proudly did volunteer work with the St. Elizabeth Guild, providing over 10,000 hours of service, volunteered with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing bridge. Mrs. Hart is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kay Hart and Daniel Whyte of York, ME; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Patrick J. Hart and his companion Theresa O'Connell of Whitesboro and Dennis J. and Rosanne Hart of New Hartford; seven grandchildren, Sean Hart and his wife Amy, Matthew Hart and his wife Katherine, Alicyn Hart and her Husband Eric Woodworth, Jason Hart and his fiancée Andrea Hayes, Alex Hart, Meaghan Whyte and Katey Whyte; 4 great grandchildren, Brianna, Patrick and Brendan Hart and Owen Woodworth; two sisters, Jane Devlin of Baltimore, MD and Ruth Hubner of Webster, NY; three sisters-in-law, Rosemary Benson And her husband, James of Clinton, Jane Smith and her husband Lewis of Washington Mills and Kathryn Dawes of Clinton and a brother-in-law, John (Jack) Hart and his wife Rosemary of New Hartford. She was predeceased by a daughter Alice Hart, grandson, Trevor Hart, sister, Mary Frances Trosset, brother, John (Hap) Holehan, sister-in-law, Margaret (Peggy) Gossin and brother-in-law, Thomas Hart. Mrs. Hart's funeral will be held on Friday May 29, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 10:00 at St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a donation in Alice's memory please consider the Trevor Roy Hart Charitable Scholarship Fund, PO Box 477 Utica NY 13503.
