Obituary of Mildred E. Goodness

Mildred E. Goodness, 89, of Utica, passed away December 19, 2008 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. Mildred was born in Scotia, NY on October 20, 1919, the daughter of Edward and Edna Herron Zoellner. She was raised and educated in Scotia and a graduate of Scotia High School. On May 1, 1948, Mildred married Francis E. Goodness. Mr. Goodness passed away in 2003. In 1953, they moved to Utica, where she was employed with General Electric Company until her retirement. A stay at home "mom", Mildred was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Mildred was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Mildred is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Deborah Goodness of Marrietta, GA; a granddaughter, Nicole Goodness of Marrietta, GA; and a brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Peg Zoellner of Johnstown, NY. She is predeceased by a brother, Robert Zoellner. A memorial celebration of Mildred and Francis' lives will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, Utica with Pastor Mark Caruana presiding. Interment in Maple Shade Cemetery, Scotia, will take place at the convenience of the family. Memorial visitation will take place at the funeral home from 1 - 2 pm.
