Mrs. Elsie L. Roach, 87 of Guilderland, NY formerly of Walker Rd., Deerfield passed away on Sunday April 12, 2009 at Our Lady of Mercy Nursing Home in Guilderland. Elsie was born in Utica on October 1, 1921 the daughter of Charles and Martha (Kratzenburg) Long. She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of the Utica School of Commerce. On December 27, 1945, Elsie was united in marriage to Harold Roach, a union of 47 years until Harold's death in 1992. For many years, Elsie was employed with Gerald T. Sherline, Public Accountant in Utica. She was a member and past treasurer of the former St. Paul's Episcopal Church, N. Utica and did volunteer work at Grace Church in Utica. Mrs. Roach is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara Riley of Mohawk, NY and her companion John VanDyke and Susan and Stephen Raczynski of Latham, NY; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Barbara Roach of Clifton Park, NY; 8 grandsons and 3 great grandsons. Mrs. Roach's funeral will be held on Wednesday April 15, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland. Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday 11:00-12:00 prior to the service. Those so wishing may consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, N.E.
