Obituary of Margaret E. Lowery

Miss Margaret E. Lowery, a resident of the Presbyterian Home, New Hartford, formerly a life long resident of Utica, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009 at the nursing home. Margaret was born in Utica on December 9, 1917 the daughter of William H. and Anna (Andes) Lowery, Sr. She was raised and educated in Utica, was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, Oneonta Normal School and the State University, College of Buffalo, receiving her Bachelors of Science and Master Degrees in education. For many years she was employed as a teacher with the Utica School System retiring after 36 years on dedicated service. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association and was a parishioner of the former St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica. Margaret is survived by a devoted nephew, George Perretta and his wife Jo Ann of Trotwood, OH; nieces, Genevieve Heyduke and her husband Philip of Seminole, FL, and Gail Hubbard of Utica; nephew, Jack Countryman and his wife Linda of Rochester, NY; a close cousin, Ruth Andes of Alba, NY and a kind friend, Joan Mullin. She was pre deceased by her parents, four sisters, Eleanor Lowery, Anna Countryman, Catherine Hubbard and Genevieve Crowe, two brothers, William Lowery, Jr and John Lowery, two nieces, Carolyn Bowman and Diane Hill and a nephew, Dennis Crowe. Miss Lowery's funeral will be held on Monday April 13, 2009 at 11:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 12:00 noon at Historic Old St. John's Church in Utica where her mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville. In keeping with Margaret's wishes there are no calling hours. Margaret's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Presbyterian Residential Community and Presbyterian Home for the wonderful care you provided to our aunt over the past several years.
