Obituary of Etheldreda L. Woolheater

Etheldreda L. Woolheater, 90, a resident of the Eastern Star Home, Oriskany, formerly of New Hartford and New York Mills, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009, at the home with her family by her side. Ethel was born March 2, 1919 in New Hartford, the daughter of Francis "Frank" and Frances Oster Linder. She graduated from New Hartford High School and lived most of her life in the New Hartford area. On October 5, 1942, Ethel was joined in marriage to Martin T. Woolheater at St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford. Mr. Woolheater passed away on July 6, 1968. After the death of her husband, Ethel was employed for over 20 years, first at Tri-Manor Drug Store and later at Rite-Aid Drug Store, both in New Hartford. Ethel was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and homemaker. One of the hobbies she greatly enjoyed was working in her flower gardens. Ethel had belonged to St. John the Evangelist Church and later to St. Thomas Church, both in New Hartford. Ethel is survived by her six daughters and three sons-in-law, Barbara (Robert) Kaelin of Utica, Sister Patricia Woolheater, CSJ of Latham, Nancy (Louis) Watts of Deerfield, Marion (Richard) Thomas of New Hartford, Linda Mierek of Whitesboro, Rita Stefanski of New Hartford; and one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas (Liz) Woolheater, of Gaithersburg, MD. In addition she leaves 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother-in-law; Roberta Carroll of Sauquoit, and Frances (William) Gerling of New Hartford, one brother and two sisters-in-law, Darius (Millie) Linder of Sauquoit, Helen Savicki of Clinton, and many nieces and nephews. Ethel was predeceased by one infant granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Stefanski; one son-in-law, Walter Stefanski; one brother, William Linder; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Agnes and James Edic and Eileen and John Williams. Mrs. Woolheater's funeral will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Utica. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica on Tuesday from 5 - 8 pm.
