Daniel C. Brown, Jr., 49 of Utica passed away at home unexpectedly on Sunday, March 8, 2009. Dan was born in Utica on April 1, 1959 the son of Daniel C. Brown, Sr. and the late Beverly H. Linke. He was a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College and served in the U.S. Air Force. In Whitestown on August 28, 2004 he was united in marriage to Jill A. Neary. Dan was a certified instructor in Judo and Jujistsu. He taught judo at MVCC and Brown's School of Judo and Jujistsu. He was a Yodan 4th degree black belt and licensed in Kodokan, USJA, USJI, USJF and USA Judo. Dan is survived by his wife, Jill, his stepdaughter, Averie Pagan, Utica, his father; Daniel C. Brown, Sr., Utica, his grandfather; Edward Linke, Whitesboro, a sister and brother-in-law; Sandra and Russell Rockwood, Schuyler, a brother and sister-in-law; James and Julie Brown, OH, and his mother-in-law; Judith Neary, Utica and in-laws; Scott Neary, Dawn and Dave Chaisson, Reed Neary and fiancée, Andrea Back and Shawn Neary all of Utica. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and two great nephews. Dan was predeceased by his mother, Beverly Linke in 2004, a brother, Jeffrey in 1998, grandparents, Florence Linke, Clara Brown and Rowe Brown and his father-in-law, Wallace Neary. Daniel's funeral will be held on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 8:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 9:30 from Historic Old St. John's Church, Utica. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 5-8. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Brown's School of Judo and Jujistsu.
