Obituary of Lillian Jean Freel

Mrs. Lillian Jean Freel, 83 of Canastota, NY formerly of Finke Ave., Utica passed away on Saturday February 28, 2009 in Canastota. Lillian was born on August 12, 1925 in Holland Patent, NY the daughter of Myles and Mabel (Jones) Harter. On April 23, 1949 Lillian married Loriston Freel at Sacred Heart Church in Utica. She was employed with General Electric Company, later as a crossing guard with the Utica Police Department and until her retirement as a clerk/bookkeeper with the City of Utica. Lillian was a life member of the Parent Teachers Association at Washington School, was a Girl Scout leader with the Foot Hills Council and a member of Our Lady of The Rosary Church, New Hartford. Mrs. Freel is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lori A. and Edward Bulken of Canastota, NY and their children, James E. Donner, Jr., Adam L. Donner and Patrick J. Donner; son and daughter-in-law, James Dean and Lynda (Fitzgerald) Freel Sr. of Utica and their children, James Dean Freel, Jr. and his fiancée Debra Peppenelli, and Paul Le Shawn Freel and his wife Heather (Cruikshank) Freel; three great grandchildren, Brandon D. Cruikshank, Alex Paul Freel and Kaylee Ann Freel; one sister, Mabel Illingworth of Rome; a sister-in-law, Norma Harter of Holland Patent and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Loriston, three sisters, Anne Harter, Florence Bloomfield and Pearl Gillette, three brothers, Myles Harter, Everett Harter and William Harter and her favorite nephew, Robert Gillette. Mrs. Freel's Funeral will be held on Wednesday March 4, 2009 at 10:15 a.m at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 11:00 at Our Lady of The Rosary Church, New Hartford. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours for family and friends are Tuesday 5:00-8:00 p.m. Those so wishing may consider a donation to the American Heart Association or Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 600 Bridgeport, NY 13030 in Lillian's memory.
