Mr. Michael W. Jones, 71 of N. Utica passed away on Thursday January 22, 2009 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford with his loving family by his side. Michael was born in Utica on March 20, 1937 the son of David C. and Myrtle (Breen) Jones. He was raised locally, attended grade school in Deerfield and attended Whitesboro High School. On May 17, 1958 Michael was united in marriage to Barbara A. Fritts at St. Stanislaus Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 50 years. For many years, Michael was employed as a mechanic with Koerner Ford, Costello Ford and Cater Lincoln Mercury. He later opened his own garage, "Mike's Service" on John St. in Utica and also worked at P.J. Green Advertising in Utica. He was an active and generous man, always ready to lend a helping hand to any one who needed it. He dedicated his life to the loving care of his family and his children will forever consider him the "Best Dad in the World". Mr. Jones will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Barbara; four loving children, Theresa Huzarewicz of Marcy and her special companion, Bill Perry, Michelle McGauley and her husband Scott of NY Mills, Joseph Jones and his wife Sandra of Marcy and Michael Jones of Albany; 4 cherished grand daughters, Tara McLean and her husband Paul of Deerfield, Tricia Huzarewicz of Oneida, Jennifer and Morgan McGauley of NY Mills; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrtle (Betty) Wohan of Newport, Jane Huckabone of Newport, Mary and Paul Cook of Poland, Eleanor and Joe Putney of Newport and Patricia and Richard Roan of Missouri; he is survived by his brothers, Frederick and Carolyn Jones of Deerfield and Joseph and Liz Jones of Poland; sisters-in-law Janet Jones of Frankfort, Kathy Jones of Newport and Nancy Jones of Newport; a brother-in-law, Al Hajdasz and his wife Eileen of Remsen; special cousins Dorothy and Walter Slabicki and Betty and Tom Williams and dear friends, Metro, Sam and Tony. He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Dygert and four brothers David, Richard, James and Douglas Jones. He will be sadly missed by his canine companions, Sammy, Buster and Max. Mr. Jones' funeral will be held on Monday January 26, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and 10:00 at St. Peter's Church where his mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Sunday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Those so wishing may consider a donation to a charity of your choice in Michael's memory. Mr. Jones' family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU, CCU, 4th floor and 5th floor of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare and Staff at Masonic Care Community for the compassionate care you provided to Michael.
