Obituary of Raymond Joseph Graf

Raymond Joseph Graf, 83, of Utica passed away January 15, 2009 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center after a short illness. Raymond was born in Utica on January 8, 1926 the son of Carl F. and Anna (Matt) Graf. At Sacred Heart Church, Utica on July 26, 1947 Raymond married Lucille Neary. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1973 Ray formed G5 Engraving and Rubber Stamps. His son, Bruce took it over when Ray retired in January 1988. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of The Rosary Church, New Hartford and St. Anthony of Padua Church, Casa Grande, AZ, and a former member of the Utica Rotary and Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Church, Utica. Ray was well known in the square dance community and was instrumental in forming several square dance clubs. He spent his retirement traveling and crafting sterling silver jewelry. Ray is survived by his wife Lucille of 61 years, a daughter and son-in-law; Lynette and Robert Padykula, Mooresville, NC, a son and daughter-in-law; Bruce R. and Alison Graf, Marcy, a daughter; Leanne M. Graf and partner, Roni Mays, Ithaca, NY, grandchildren; Karen, Kelly and David Padykula, Mooresville, NC, Alex and Miranda Graf, Jim, and Kristen Heath, Marcy, NY, Shirley and husband Tony Randazzo, Frankfort, NY, Michael and Timothy Graf, and a brother and sister-in-law; John and Judy Graf, Port Charlotte, FL. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by two grandchildren; Rene' and Marie Padykula. Mr. Graf's funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 10:00 from Our Lady of The Rosary Church, New Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 2-4 & 6-8. Those so wishing may make donations to Muscular Dystrophy Association, American Heart Association or the Faxton-St. Luke's Regional Dialysis Center. The family wishes to thank Doctors Tretter, Matthew, Mian, Tish, Eldridge and Frederick, the staff of Faxton-St. Luke's Regional Dialysis Center and the staff of the St. Elizabeth Cardiac Care Unit, especially Judy and Katie.
