Mrs. Agnes Anne Gerstner, 71 of Utica passed away on Friday December 5, 2008 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford with her loving family by her side. Agnes was born in Utica on January 31, 1937 the daughter of Stuart and Leona (Watson) Hahn. She was raised locally and was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. On August 31, 1957 at St. Patrick's Church in Utica, Agnes was united in marriage to Richard T. Gerstner, a loving union of 44 years until Richards's death in 2001. For 10 years until her retirement, she was employed with Utica Psychiatric Center. Agnes was a member of American Legion Whitestown Post 1113 ladies Auxiliary, the Vets Club, Yorkville and was a parishioner of St. Joseph St. Patrick Church in Utica. She enjoyed spending time at her camp at Sylvan Beach and being with family. Mrs. Gerstner is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Steven Grabski of Mohawk, NY and Jennifer and Daniel Oberhauser of Beacon, NY; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Laura Gerstner of Limerick, PA, Richard C. and Deanna Gerstner of Irving, TX and Daniel and Penny Gerstner of Greer, SC; her fiancée, William Bryant of Utica; five cherished grandchildren, Christine Fogle and her husband Brice of GA, Zachary Gerstner and Zoey Gerstner both of Greer, SC and Lauren Grabski and Richard Grabski both of Mohawk; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Shaw of N. Utica, Kathy and Jack Sardina of Bristol, TN, Roberta "Bunny" Hahn of Utica and Lynda and Donald Witte of Utica; one brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Cindy Hahn of Forestport, NY; in-laws, Marge Frederick of New Hartford, Joan and Bernard McLoughlin of Baltimore, MD, Suzzanne Faubert of Utica and Robert Gerstner of Liverpool and special friends, John and Patti Stevener and their sons, John, Jason and Justin whom she considered her second family. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephew, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother John Hahn and a sister Betsy Bonney. Mrs. Gerstner's funeral will be held on Tuesday December 9, 2008 at 10:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 11:00 at St. Joseph St. Patrick Church where her mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Monday 4:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider bringing in a toy for "Toys for Tots" a campaign that was very dear to Agnes. Mrs. Gerstner's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Samir Desai, his physicians assistant, Windy Mitchell and his entire Staff for the compassionate care you provided to our beloved mother. A special thank you to the staff on the 6th floor of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare and staff of Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital for the care and kindness you showed.
