Jessie "Ginger" Celestia Durante, 74, a resident of the Masonic Care Community, passed away Monday, November 3, 2008 at the home. Ginger was born in Syracuse on June 23, 1934, the daughter of Peter and Celestia (Williams) Kappesser. She was raised and educated in Syracuse, graduating from Syracuse Central High School. Ginger owned and operated Durante's Tavern and Wrong Number, both in Utica. She later worked for Hull Construction Company in Utica. Ginger loved her cats and especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ginger is survived by three daughters, Dawn Michaud and her companion, Anthony Rosati, Sherry Michaud, and Sandy Michaud; one son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Kendra Durante; six grandchildren, Jack, Eric, Jamie, Guy, Vincent, and a new special granddaughter, Gianna Jessie; six great grandchildren, Kim, Chris, Kyla, Ryan, Mya, and a special great granddaughter, Erica. Jessie Durante's funeral will be held Thursday evening, November 6, 2008 at 7 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, North Utica. Interment in Forest Park Cemetery, Camden will take place at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening, from 5 - 7 pm, prior to the funeral service.
