Edward R. Lonczak, UPD Ret. Utica Edward R. Lonczak, 58, of Utica, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center after a long illness. Ed was born in Utica on July 22, 1950, the son of Edward and Mary (Carnevale) Lonczak. He was raised and educated locally, attending Utica Free Academy. Ed served on the Utica Police Department for 28 years, retiring in 2003 as a detective. He was also a member of the Utica Police PBA. Ed also enjoyed spending his time golfing and fishing. He was of the Roman Catholic faith. Ed is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Christine Lonczak and her fiance, Lester Roca, Meriden, CT, Karen and Dino Losito, Elmira, NY; a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Allison Lonczak, Malone, NY; three grandchildren, Nicholas Rosenbloom, Mia Losito, and Ashley Lonczak; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Gary and Peggy Lonczak, Marcy, and Greg Lonczak, Utica. Edward Lonczak's funeral will be held on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Utica. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro Street, Utica, Thursday evening, from 5 - 7 pm.
