Philip L. Sbiroli, 75, of Deerfield passed away at home on Monday September 1, 2008. Philip was born in Utica on August 19, 1933 a son of the late Anthony and Nellie (Guerierro) Sbiroli. He was raised and educated in Utica and served in the Navy during the Korean War. At St. Francis de Sales Church, Utica on July 14, 1956 Philip married Irene M. Murray. For many years until his retirement in 1994 he was employed with Utica Corp. Philip was a member of St. Peter's Church, North Utica, a former usher in the church, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the IAMAW. Philip was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. Philip is survived by his wife, Irene, a daughter and son-in-law; Lynne and Donald Lape, Frankfort, four grandchildren; Jason Lape and wife Civita, Ilion, Alison Scafe and husband David, Fort Drum, NY, Kaitlin Lape and Jaimee Lape, both of Frankfort, seven great grandchildren; James, Charisma, Joshua and Coleigh Lape, Hope and Aaron Rosati and Abigail Scafe, two sisters and brother-in-law; Ann and Sherman Stein, Stittville, and Dorothy Oaksford and Tim Coon, Oneida, a brother and sister-in-law; Salvatore and Susan Sbiroli, New York Mills, in-laws; Anthony and Catherine Caruso, Frankfort, and Peter and Ann Murray, New Hartford and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Philip was predeceased by his son, Michael Sbiroli in 1973. Mr. Sbiroli's funeral will be held on Friday September 5, 2008 at 10:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica and at 11:00 from St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 5-8. Those so wishing may make donations to Hospice & Palliative Care Inc. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hospice, especially Jan, the staff of the 6th floor of St. Luke's and Doctors Ulahannan, Desai and El-Amir for all the care and compassion given to Philip.
