Mrs. Elizabeth M. Mrowka, 83 of Waterville, formerly of Utica passed away on Monday September 1, 2008 at her home with her loving family by her side. Elizabeth was born in Utica on May 26, 1925 the daughter of Harold and Madeline (Mathis) Hand. She was raised locally and attended St. Joseph School. On November 23, 1944 Elizabeth married Stanley Mrowka in St. Joseph Church in Utica, a union of 35 years until Stanley's death in 1979. For many years, Elizabeth was employed with UNIVAC Corporation, retiring when the company closed. She was a member of the Home Bureau in both Utica and Waterville, volunteered at the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville for 20 years, participated in a morning bowling league at Waterville Bowling alley and was a parishioner of St. Joseph St. Patrick Church in Utica. She enjoyed camping at Hinckley Lake, but above all else cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. Mrs. Mrowka is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dominick Colucci, Sr. of Waterville; her son, Richard Mrowka of Utica; one sister, Irene Murawski of N. Utica; 4 beloved grandchildren and their spouses, Dominick and Jessica (Maine) Colucci, Jr. of Marcy, Michael Mrowka of Utica, Angel Colucci and her fiancée Roger Squires of NC and Kelly and Darryl Yaddaw of Lakeville, NY; five cherished great grandchildren, Mackenzie Yaddaw, Ella Elizabeth Yaddaw, Giles Yaddaw, Emily Colucci and Victoria Colucci; two sisters-in-law, Mary J. Majka and Helen Hand both of Utica; one niece, Sheila Murad and her husband Fred; four nephews, Roger Bolinski, Frank Mrowka, Mark Hand and Daniel Hand and a dear friend, Stanley Lorek and his family of New Hartford. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Hand and a niece Gladys Hand. Mrs. Mrowka's funeral will be held on Thursday September 4, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 10:00 at St. Joseph-St. Patrick Church where her mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Whitesboro. Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a Mass offering or a donation to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. or Hamilton Memorial Community Hospital in Elizabeth's memory. Mrs. Mrowka's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Staff of Hospice Care, Staff at Hamilton Memorial Community Hospital, Dr. Robert DeLorme and Dr. Barbara Harcleroad for the loving care and compassion you provided to Elizabeth. A special thank you to Sheila and Fred Murad, Roger Bolinski and Frank Mrowka for the caring support you provided durring this difficult time.
