Mrs. Catherine Wittenbeck, 87 of Syracuse, NY passed away on Wednesday August 6, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Catherine was born in Utica on August 22, 1920 the daughter of Richard and Minnie (Schreck) Weibel and received her education in local schools. On October 28, 1939, Catherine was united in marriage to Donald Wittenbeck at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica, a union of 51 years until Donald death in 1991. For many years she was employed with Bristol Myers-Squibb in Syracuse retiring in 1975. Catherine was a member of the American Legion ladies auxiliary in Syracuse and a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Syracuse. Mrs. Wittenbeck is survived by three sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary and Roger Jenny of Cheektowaga, NY, Ann Winchell of Utica and Monica Manley of Eden, NY; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Fred and Shirley Weibel of Clark Mills, Karl Weibel of Utica, Leo and Mary Weibel of Deerfield and James and Virginia Weibel of New Hartford. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Josephine Weibel and two brothers, Oscar Weibel and Robert Weibel. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Catherine's memorial mass of Christian burial on Saturday August 9, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. There are no calling hours. Interment in Onondaga Valley Cemetery in Syracuse will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica.
