William J. Sullivan, Jr., 63, of Clayville passed away at home on Monday November 5, 2007. William was born in Utica on August 10, 1944 a son of William J. and Evelyn (Schuff) Sullivan, Sr. In 1960 William joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for 31 years retiring in 1991. On August 29, 1999 William was united in marriage to Colleen Murtaugh. William was a life member of the Fleet Reserve, VFW Upton Post #8259, Stittville, and American Legion Post #231, Clayville. William is survived by his wife; Colleen, a daughter and son-in-law; Suzanne and Jeremiah Schaffer, CA, a stepdaughter; Megan Young, Clayville, two grandchildren; Graelyn and Connor Pope, CA three sisters and a brother-in-law; Evelyn and Scott McNulty, Nancy Snyder and Bernadette Snyder, two brothers and a sister-in-law; Gary and Sue Snyder and Patrick Snyder all of Syracuse, two aunts; Ruth Schuff, North Utica and Barbara Homer, Frankfort and many nieces, nephews and cousins. William was predeceased by two sisters; Maureen and Bonnie and a brother; Paul. Mr. Sullivan's funeral service will be held on Thursday November 8, 2007 at 4:00 pm from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 2-4 prior to the service. The family would like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care, Sandy Lewis and Dawn Carmen for all the care and compassion shown to William.
