William (Billy) Edward Sperbeck (61) passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2008 in Miami, FL, of a massive heart attack Billy was born November 23, 1946 in Utica, NY the son of Clarence and Rosemary (Kieffer) Sperbeck and was the eighth in a family of twelve children. Billy retired from the Utica office of the U.S. Postal Service, was a US Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post #1376 in New Hartford. He was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Free Mason and a member of Ilion Olive Branch Grand Lodge #40. Billy's family and friends admired his love of sports cars, quick wit, and loyalty. He was preceded in death by his wife Diane Potaczala Sperbeck, parents Clarence and Rosemary, sister, Gene Dillon and brothers, Paul, Dana, Jimmy, Joe and David,. Billy is survived by his son, Eddie, daughter-in-law Susie, her mother Francesca Dimino and his beloved granddaughter Francesca Sperbeck, of Miami, FL.; three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Jerry and Stella Sperbeck, George and Charlotte Sperbeck, Charley and Bobbie Sperbeck and Dorothy Cornnell; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Shirley and Phil Abiusi and Christy Swenskowski; his godson Brian Swenskowski and a kind niece Rosanne Czarnocki. Other extensive family members include twenty-one nieces and nephews. Bill also leaves his admired girlfriend Theresa Oles and her children, Toni, Jozef and Jen Neal and their son Joey and Maria and her daughter Isabella Oles all from New Hartford. Through the years, they had many special holidays and great times. Bills humor, knowledge and kindness will live in our hearts forever. Mr. Sperbeck's funeral will be held on Wednesday June 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Yorkville. Proudly serving as Billy's pallbearers are Jerry Sperbeck, Charley Sperbeck, James Sperbeck, Stephen Sperbeck, Brian Swenskowski, Phil Abiusi, Matt Czarnocki, Denise Ward, Tommy "Desi" Desimone and Jozef Oles. Calling hours for family and friends are Tuesday 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association in honor of America's Greatest Heart Run & Walk Team Victoria (Billy's niece) 120 Lamond Ct., Utica, NY 13502 in memory of William Sperbeck.
