Walter D. Soron, 79, of Utica passed away Saturday March 15, 2008 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. Walter was born in Poland, NY on March 28, 1928 the son of Michael and Mary (Swiret) Soron. At St. Stanislaus Church, Utica on June 20, 1948 Walter married Sophie Lasek a blessed union of 58 years until her passing away on May 11, 2006. For many years until his retirement in 1990 Walter was employed with the Remington Arms Co. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart and St. Mary's Church, New York Mills. Walter was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather whose family was the center of his life. He will be remembered for his devotion to them. Walter is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law; Linda Soron, Utica and Patricia and Michael Jasinski, Utica, his son and daughter-in-law; Leonard and Patricia Soron, Utica, his five beloved grandchildren and spouses; Tammy and David Mickle, Holland Patent, Michael and Ellen Soron, Poland, NY, Michele Soron, Utica, Amy and William Ferguson, Utica, Greg and Melissa Jasinski, Buffalo, NY, five cherished great grandchildren; Hannah Mickle, Ryan Soron, Andrew Soron, Emma Sophie Soron and Lucas Ferguson, four brothers and two sisters-in-law; Frank Soron, Poland, Stanley and Celia Soron, Poland, John and Jane Soron, Newport, and Al Soron, Broomfield, CO, a sister-in-law, Frieda Lasek, Whitesboro, a cousin; Maria Marszalek, Whitesboro and many nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by a brother; Michael Soron. Mr. Soron's funeral will be held on Tuesday March 18, 2008 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 10:00 from Sacred Heart and St. Mary's Church, New York Mills. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday (Today) from 4-7. Please omit flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Walter's memory. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sloan, Dr. Arasty, and the nursing staff of St. Elizabeth's Hospital especially the ICU for all the loving care given to Walter.
