Terrence S. Kain New Hartford Terrence S. Kain, 83, of Washington Dr., New Hartford, NY, passed away January 1, 2007 at his home. Terry was born December 26, 1923 in Utica, NY, the son of Patrick and Anne Connolly Kain. He was raised and educated in the Utica school system. Terry was a WWII navy veteran, having served as a fireman from 1943-46. On February 8, 1947 in Utica, he was married to Marilyn Snyder, a blessed union of almost 60 years. For over 20 years, Terry was employed by the City of Utica as a fireman, retiring in 1975 as Lieutenant. He was also employed by the White Oil Company of Utica for a number of years. He was a former member of Sacred Heart Church, Utica, and a member of the American Legion Post #1376 of New Hartford. Terry was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening, especially his flowers. Always enjoying his children and grandchildren, he was very caring to them and friends, always ready to help when needed. Terry is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Robert Mackos of Yorkville, Colleen and Norman Martin of New Hartford; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Timothy and Laura Kain of Barneveld, Christopher and Judith Kain of Annville, PA, Patrick and Christine Kain of Leesburg, VA, Edward and Mary Kain of New York Mills, and Steven Kain at home in New Hartford. Known to his 17 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson, by many nicknames, he will be lovingly remembered as "Bompa, Grandpa, G-Pops and Papa." He is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Dorothy Kain of Utica. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and good friends. Terry was predeceased by six sisters, Sara Tichena, Rose Costello, Agnes, Margaret, Catherine, and Marian Kain; four brothers, Thomas, Henry, John (Frankie) and Lawrence. Mr. Kain's funeral will be held Thursday, January 4, 2007, at 9:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, and at 10:00 at St. Mary's Church, New York Mills, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. His burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery of Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home Wednesday (today) from 4 to 8 p.m. Mr. Kain's family would like to make a special thank you to Dr. George Kozminski and the nurses of St. Elizabeth's 3rd floor and 4th floor Special Care Unit, and especially his angels, Tanya, Denise and Sue, for all their care during Terry's illness. Donations in Mr. Kain's memory would be appreciated to the New York Mills Fire Department.
