Shirley M. Knott, 78, of Utica passed away Tuesday February 6, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital with her loving family by her side. Shirley was born in Malone, NY on October 5, 1928 a daughter of Ralph and Iva (LaValley) Nichols. At Blessed Sacrament Church on April 10, 1948 she married Earl P. Knott. For over 30 years Shirley was employed by the City of Utica School District as a crossing guard in West Utica. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's ? St. Patrick's Church. Shirley enjoyed traveling with her husband Earl and in her earlier years she enjoyed bowling. Shirley was a devoted wife and wonderful mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she enjoyed spending time with them. She just recently experienced the joy of the birth of her great grandson Noah Robert. Shirley is survived by her husband, Earl, two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Knott, Utica and Kathy and Robert Harvey, New Hartford, two sons, Michael Knott, Utica and Thomas Knott, Watertown, NY, three grandchildren Bryan, Kristopher and Kayla, a great grandson, Noah Robert and a sister and brother-in-law Linda and Kenneth Studdard, Clinton. Shirley was predeceased by a sister, Sandra Cramer. Mrs. Knott's funeral will be held on Friday February 9, 2007 at 8:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 9:30 from St. Joseph's ? St. Patrick's Church, Utica. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday (Today) from 4-7. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the 7th floor staff of the Heritage Heathcare Center, especially Shirley's "angel" Mary Burnett for all the loving care given to her.
