Obituary of Sandra A. Pflanz

Sandra passed peacefully at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday January 24, 2007 at University Hospital, Syracuse after a six month battle with Pulmonary Hypertension. A very caring and giving professional always put everyone before herself, giving one hundred percent of her energy and devotion to her family especially her grandsons, her work and helping others. A highly educated greatly respected psychiatric nurse practitioner with a good sense of humor Sandra was employed with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Rome. Sandra was a great quilter devoting months making quilts then giving them away as presents to loved ones. Sandra is survived by her husband, Thomas, a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Pflanz Smith and husband Brett, her mother, Helen Cieslak Nougeim, a sister, Christine Nougeim and companion Hawley Zwahlen, and her three grandsons, Tyler Smith, and twins Riley and Aiden Smith. Sandra was predeceased by her father Louis Nougeim on January 7, 2007. Memorial calling hours for Sandra will be held on Sunday January 28, 2007 from 1-3 & 5-6:30 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, with a service to be held at 6:30 at the conclusion of calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, c/o University Hospital, 750 E. Adams St., Syracuse, NY 13210-2339 or 801 Roeder Rd., Suite 400, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Sandra everyone will miss your great baking, especially your cookies. Love Tom.
