Russell W. Barlow, 83, of Deerfield passed away Tuesday May 13, 2008 at the Martin Luther Home. Russell was born in Utica on August 6, 1924 the son of the late William H. and Pauline (Burkhart) Barlow. He was an Army veteran of World War II. In Utica on May 15, 1948 Russell married Edna Crandall. For many years until his retirement in 1984 he was employed with AT&T. He was a member of St. Peter's Church, North Utica, American Legion Post #229, CWA Retirees Union, and Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department and was a former fire commissioner and fire department secretary. Russell is survived by his beloved wife Edna, five daughters and two sons-in-law; Chriselle Deignan, RI, Claudia and Patrick Nolan, Deerfield, Celeste and Roger DeCarlis, Utica, Cynthia and Robert Merritt, IA, and Clarice Horan, Deerfield, four sons and two daughters-in-law; Jeffrey and Sylvia Barlow, Oneida, Peter Barlow, VA, Matthew and Madeline Barlow, Utica and Michael Barlow, Durhamville. Russell is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Russell was predeceased by a sister; Beverly Loparco and a brother; Robert Barlow. Mr. Barlow's funeral will be held on Saturday May 17, 2008 at 10:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica and at 11:00 from St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4-7. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Deerfield Fire Volunteer Department in Russell's memory. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Willow Way of the Martin Luther Home for all the loving care they gave to Russell.
