Roman E. Savicki, 91, of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with his family by his side. Roman was born on October 8, 1916 in Fremont, Ohio, the son of Edward and Mary (Wisniewski) Savicki. He was raised and educated in Clinton, attending Clinton District 12 on Snowden Hill Road. On August 31, 1941, Roman married Stella Lopata at Holy Trinity Church in Utica. Mrs. Savicki passed away in 1973. Roman, along with his brothers, carried on their family tradition by working the farm on Route 12, started by their father. A special grandson, Eric, and brother, Walter, will continue the tradition by running the "Savicki Farm Market". Roman retired in 1980, and until recently, he continued to help Eric with the planting. He was a member of the Dairyman's League, of Cooperative Extension, and of the Oneida County Farm Bureau. He was also a member of St. Mary's Church, Clinton. There were several things that Roman especially enjoyed, such as "Coffee Day" with his brothers and special nephew, Ed 'Skip" Savicki. Others include his many trips to Myrtle Beach as well as his fishing trips to Canada. Roman is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Furmanski, Clinton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gerald Savicki, Clinton; Richard and Andrea Savicki, Clinton; nine grandchildren, Jerry and Kelly Savicki, Randy and Christine Savicki, Eric and Melissa Savicki, Colleen Furmanski, Michael and Kirstina Furmanski, Richard and Dawn Savicki, Michele and Joe Parrotta, Darlene and Dana Grube and Brandon Savicki; one sister, Helen Brockett, Clinton; two brothers, Albert Savicki, Clinton, Walter Savicki, Clinton; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Helen Savicki, Clinton, Henry Lopata, Clinton, Al and Felicia DeLucia, New Hartford. Also surviving are five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters, Alice Balch and Stella Lopata; three brothers, Henry, Stanley and Edward Savicki; and a son-in-law, Richard Furmanski. Mr. Savicki's funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 9:15 am from the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton and 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, Clinton where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2 ? 4 and 7 ? 9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in Roman's memory. Roman's family extends their thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Robert Lowenstein and his staff for the care and kindness given to Roman and his family.
