Norma G. Flihan, 70, of North Utica passed away Monday evening June 9, 2008 at the St. Luke's Home. Norma was born in Utica on October 3, 1937 a daughter of the late Francis W. and Mary Elizabeth (Roberts) Gossin, Jr. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School class of 1955. At St. Francis de Sales Church on October 4, 1958 Norma married John H. Flihan. For several years Norma was employed with New York Telephone Co. and then later until her retirement in 1975 was employed by St. Elizabeth's Hospital. She was a member of Historic Old St. John's Church, Utica, honorary life member of the Utica Maennerchor, and a member of the St. Francis de Sales Alumni Association. Norma is survived by her husband John, a daughter and son-in-law; Mary and Dan Weiler, New Hartford, a son and daughter-in-law; John V. and Annette Flihan, Clark Mills, two grandchildren; Katie Weiler, New Hartford and Brenden Flihan, Clark Mills, a brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Jeanne Gossin, Utica, in-laws; Ann Gossin, NC, Robert and Madeline Flihan, NC, Michael and Theresa Flihan, New Hartford, and Theresa and Nicholas Labella, Utica and many nieces and nephews. Norma was predeceased by a son; David J. Flihan in 1959 and brother; Robert Gossin on May 10, 2008 and her mother-in-law and father-in-law; Harry and Mary Flihan. Mrs. Flihan's funeral will be held on Friday June 13, 2008 at 8:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica and at 9:30 from Historic Old St. John's Church, Utica. Entombment will be in the Calvary Mausoleum. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4-8. Those so wishing may make donations to the Children's Miracle Network in Norma's memory.
