Jason F. Melvin N. Utica Mr. Jason F. Melvin, 80 of N. Utica passed away on Monday January 15, 2007 at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital. Jason was born in Ilion, NY on December 6, 1926 the son of Merton and Vivian (Lawton) Melvin Sr. He was raised and educated in Green, NY and Hamilton, NY. As a US Army Veteran, Jason was stationed in Korea during WW II. On November 29, 1948, he married Melva H. Clemens in N. Brookfield Baptist Church. At one time, Jason was employed with NY Central Rail Road. He was a member of American Legion Post 229, N. Utica, DAV Stars and Strips # 82 and the VFW post in Schuyler. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. Melvin is survived by his wife Melva; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Reggie F. and Linda Melvin, IL and Danny J. Melvin, Frankfort; six grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Melvin, Marcy, Christopher Daniel Melvin, Whitesboro, Marianne Theresa Melvin, Whitesboro, Damion Garrick Melvin, TX, Jessica April Melvin, TX and Joshua Daniel Melvin, TX; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Jane Rhodes and a brother, Merton Melvin, Jr. Mr. Melvin's funeral will be held on Thursday January 18, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica with Rev. Ernest Clemens officiating. Interment will follow in Waterville Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday 5-8 p.m.
