Lt. Cmdr. Leo J. Reilly, 80 of N. Utica passed away on Tuesday February 26, 2008 at the St. Luke's Home, New Hartford. Leo was born in Clinton on September 1, 1927 the son of Thomas and Margaret (Bannigan) Reilly and received his education in local schools. On December 20, 1959 Leo married Marjorie J. Owens in Utica. Leo honorably served in the US Navy for 28 years retiring as Lieutenant Commander in 1973. He was proudly stationed aboard the USS WASP, USS Randolph the HS 11 and served with the Allied Supreme Command in Norfolk, VA. He was of the catholic faith. Mr. Reilly is survived by his beloved wife Marjorie, N. Utica; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Joseph Hammat, Waverly, WV and Suzanne and Michael Masterson, Newton, MA; three grandchildren, Conor Reilly Masterson, Addie Rose Masterson and Claire Marie Masterson and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Rosemary Carraway, Margaret Domser and Helen Giruzzi and five brothers, John, Vincent, Francis, Walter and Thomas. Mr. Reilly's funeral will be held on Saturday March 1, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and 10:00 at St. Peter's Church where his mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Entombment with military honors will be held in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Utica.
