On December 2, 2016, Edward J. Szuba, 93, was called home to the Lord. He was born on November 2, 1923 in Utica, to John and Caroline Szuba. Ed received his education from Proctor High School . He then served in the Marine Corps. until 1946 and was a proud veteran. Ed was employed with Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. for 37 years .On September 24, 1955; Edward married the love of his life Patricia M. Flanagan and remained in union for 53 happy years until her passing in 2010. Ed and Pat raised 6 beautiful children “The six M’s”: Michael, Mace, Melanie, Marc, Melissa and Matthew. Edward had great love for his home on City Street in Utica, where he made many lifelong friends. “Poppy” loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and sister Jean Victor. Ed’s favorite moments in life always surrounded his time spent with family, eating, and Holland Farms jelly donuts. Edward is survived by; 3 sons and one daughter, 12 grandchildren, one great grand-child, three daughter in laws, two son in laws, his sister and his brother. Michael and Tessa Szuba (Caroline and Steven), Mace and Rosa Szuba (Daniel and Cassandra), Melanie and Rick Zaniewski (Lauren, Erin, and Caitlin), Marc and Kathy Szuba (Emily, Sarah, and Laura), Tyler and Colby Sadallah , one great grandchild Jack Szuba, sister Jean Victor, and brother Walter Szuba. Edward is predeceased by his parents Caroline and John Szuba, in-laws, Ernest and Gertrude Flanagan, his beloved wife Patricia M. Szuba, two children: Melissa Sadallah and Matthew Szuba, two grandchildren: Katherine Szuba and Luke Zaniewski, and several brothers and sister in laws. The family has decided not to hold calling hours, however a memorial mass will be held Saturday December 10,2016 at St. Leo's Church, Holland Patent at 10:00 a.m. A spring burial with Military Honors will be at Prospect Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, please send donations to American Lung Association and Hospice Association. Special thanks to Dr. Tomy, Ed’s aides: Nina, Anne, Kathy, Kelly, Tina, and Georgie, and the Hospice association.
