John T. Foxenberg III Boonville - Marcy John (Jack) Thomas Foxenberg III, passed away peacefully at 8 AM on Sunday, May 11, 2008, holding his daughter's hand. Jack was born in Oneida, NY on September 28, 1919, the son of John Thomas Foxenberg, Jr. and Laura Wooding Foxenberg. At an early age, his family moved to Utica, and John was a member of the first graduating class at Sacred Heart School. He graduated from UFA in 1937. He was employed by Savage Arms. On June 13, 1942, he married his childhood sweetheart, Virginia Marie Helmes, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. In October of the same year, he was drafted into the Army, and served in Battery A Harbor Defenses of Boston. He was discharged in February 1946. Jack and Ginny returned to Utica and he worked for the Jewell Tea Company. Later he entered into business with Arthur Miller, operating Daiken-Park Service Station. He was then employed by Hameline Dairies, and upon moving to Marcy in 1952, he was employed for 28 years by General Foods, Jello Division. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a past president of GMR, and was a Town of Marcy Councilman, and was active in the Marcy Democrat Club. He was a member of St. Peter's Church, was on the parish council, and chaired the fund drive. Jack and Ginny enjoyed many years of camping with their sons in their little tan trailer. Jack was the organizer and chicken "barbecuer" of many years of Foxenberg family reunions. Jack and Ginny were members of a monthly "pitch club", with friends and family and enjoyed many years of laughter and good times. They celebrated their 25th, 40th, and 50th wedding anniversaries at parties with family and friends. They retired to Pinellas Park, FL in 1982, and traveled extensively. They returned to the area in 2002, and resided at Altera Villa in Clinton. After Ginny's death in 2004, Jack lived with his daughter, Linda, in Steuben, and until his recent illness, was still enjoying traveling, taking trips to Cape Cod, and a cruise to the Caribbean, and last July to see the WW II Memorial. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Ginny. He leaves his daughter, Linda Stevener, of Steuben, grandson, Glenn Stevener, Jr., and his wife, Jeanine, great grandchildren, Katelin, Shayne, and Ian Stevener, of Marcy. Granddaughter, Donna Stevener, great grandson, Nicholas Jordan, of Rome. Son, John (Jack) T. Foxenberg, and his fiancée, Mary Lynn Berger, of Topeka, KS, granddaughters, Nina and Laura Foxenberg, of New Hartford and Whitesboro. Son, Mark T. Foxenberg ,of Falls Church, VA, former son-in-law, Glenn Stevener Sr., of Marcy, and 21 nieces and nephews. He leaves his brother, William (Dick) Foxenberg, of New Bern, NC, sister, Mary Turley, and sister-in-law, Catherine Foxenberg, of Utica. His brother, Edmund, sister, Thelma and her husband, Francis (Dint) Greer, brother-in-law, James Turley, sisters-in-law, Nadine Glenski and Harriet Foxenberg predeceased him. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 9:30 am at St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Whitestown. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, Friday evening, from 4 ? 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to the American Heart Association in John's memory. Special thanks go to his caregivers at home, Linda Kimball (his other daughter Linda), Tammy Palmer and Pat Parry, and his many caregivers at Sunset Nursing Home in Boonville.
