Utica – Mark E. Duck, 59, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. Mark was born October 16, 1957, in Utica, the son of Edward and Elizabeth “Betty” (Fischer) Duck. He was raised and educated locally, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Utica College of Syracuse University. He served his country with the US Air Force. Mark was a computer technician, employed with M.A. Polce Consulting, Inc. in Rome. He had also worked for Rome Labs. Mark had travelled the world, involved with cyber security. He enjoyed flying drones, rockets, and remote controlled air planes. Mark was an Eagle Scout, and had enjoyed camping and fishing at Raquette Lake, as well as playing golf. He was also a Magick Card Game enthusiast, who enjoyed collecting, trading and playing. Mark was affectionately known as “The Duck Man”. Mark is survived by his mother, Betty Duck, Utica; two brothers, Scott (& Debra Chrobak) Duck, Clinton, Christopher Duck, Utica; three nephews, Scott, Ethan, and Kade; two nieces, Sydney and McCullough; an uncle, Gary Fischer, Utica; and a dear family friend, Jamie Duck, Rome. Mark is predeceased by his father, Edward T. Duck, and by a brother, Eric Duck. Mr. Duck’s memorial service will be held Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 7 pm, at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd, N. Utica. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5 – 7 pm, prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to a charity of your choice in Mark’s memory.
